Apple iPhone 5 Features, Specs, Price, Release Date, Pros & Cons

Alright so the much awaited iPhone 5 is announced now, but this time it received plenty of thumbs down from most Apple fans. Mainly because most things introduced in iPhone 5 were already introduced by Android OEM’s months ago. Speaking of new iPhone’s features, it comes with new iOS 6, 4G LTE connectivity and much more. Lets take a deeper look.

Design & Display:

It appears same as its predecessor, the iPhone 4S, but this time its little slimmer just 7.6mm thick and bit bigger, the display size has been raised to 4-inch and so does the length and breadth to 123.8 and 58.5 respectively. The display is more vivid, thanks to retina & resolution of 1136 x 640. However pixel density of 326 is same as the 4S. The phone is 20% lighter than 4S weighing just 112gms.

Speaking of the OS, its totally new the iOS 6 has been introduced in this phone. The iOS 6 has revamped many features such as iMessage, WiFi along with Mobile Data, Maps, Some Apps and improved Siri; the most hyped feature of 4S. The A6 chipset used is said to be 22% smaller and twice faster as that of A5. The graphics are also twice faster than that of iPhone 4S.

Rear camera is same as that of the iPhone 4S, but picture quality & some features has been improved. The 8MP camera is 25% smaller & 40% faster with features like 3264×2448 resolution, dynamic low light mode, precision lens alignment, Panaroma with ability to shoot wide photos up to 28MP in size. It is said that the five-element, f/2.4 lens uses sapphire crystal that is more durable and thinner. The camera supports video recording at 1080p@30fps with LED Flash.

The front camera aka FaceTime camera is also upgraded. It is now possible to capture 720p HD videos and snaps with it.

The iPhone 5 comes in three different variants of internal storage 16GB / 32GB / 64GB. Sadly apple still doesn’t supports external SD cards. The RAM has also been boosted to 1GB.

Apple iPhone 5 offers whole list of connectivity options, 2G, 3G, GSM, CDMA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA, 4G LTE, LTE support for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Bell, etc. Connectivity options include WiFi Plus Cellular, Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS (turn-by-turn directions) and USB V2.0.

Battery Life:

The battery has also been improved by a bit, 8hrs on 3G, 3G & LTE browsing; 10hrs on Wi-Fi and video playback, 40hrs of music playback and 225hrs in standby.

Price & Release Date:

There are three storage variants so three different prices, $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB & $399 for 64GB on two year contract. The phone is expected to be available on 21st September to general public.

The iPhone in itself is a fantastic brand to have, talking of iPhone 5, definitely it has got whole list of impressive features, better processor, better RAM, better camera etc.

The design isn’t changed much since iPhone 4, Apple still doesn’t supports external SD cards. There is still no radio, hence you won’t be able to enjoy FM. The price is also a factor, you can have much better android phones at this price.

Wrap Up:

Frankly speaking the iPhone 5, isn’t up to all the expectations, but yes it appears very good with all the improved features and specs. If you’re truly a die hard Apple fan then you should definitely grab this device, its a must have luxury.
