Specs Comparison: LG Intuition 4G vs. Apple iPhone 4S

{0 Comments}

The LG Optimus Vu that was unveiled at the MWC 2012 is going to be marketed as the LG Intuition by Verizon. The LG Intuition 4G is more of a phablet than a phone thanks to its tablet-esque look. One of the other popular phones shipped by Verizon is the Apple iPhone 4S. Now, the LG Intuition is going to get some tough competition from Apple. So, here is a comparison between the two devices.

LG Optimus Vu vs. Apple iPhone 4S

Ergonomics:

The Intuition measures 139.6 mm in length, 90.4 mm in breadth and 8.5 mm in thickness. The device weighs around 168 g. The iPhone 4S measures 115.2 mm lengthwise, 58.6 mm breadthwise and 9.3 mm thick. It weighs lighter – 140 g. The Intuition sports a HD-IPS LCD display of 5 inches and a resolution of 768 * 1024 pixels. The 4:3 aspect ratio screen of the LG Intuition provides a different take on mobile computing. The iPhone 4S as we know features an amazingly crisp and clear 3.5 inch LED backlit IPS TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 640 * 960 pixels. Its clarity is attributed to the Retina display feature. The iPhone 4S screen is still one of the sharpest and most detailed displays in the market.

Operating System:

The Intuition runs on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). On the other hand, the iPhone 4S runs on one of the most advanced mobile operating systems of the world – the iOS 5 (upgradable to iOS 5.1). The Intuition is powered by a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The iPhone 4S is driven by a dual core Cortex-A9 processor packing a Apple A5 chipset and having a clock speed of 1 GHz.

Memory:

The LG Intuition comes with 32 GB on internal memory along with 1 GB RAM. The iPhone 4S comes in three models based on storage – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB each available with 1 GB RAM. Neither of the phones have micro SD slots.

Camera:

The phones sport 8 MP shooters in the rear having topnotch features as LED flash, geo tagging, touch focus, autofocus, etc. The phone cameras can also shoot videos at a quality of 1080p and a frame rate of 30 fps. The Intuition features a 1.3 MP front camera while the iPhone 4S has a VGA that can shoot 480p video as a secondary camera. Video calling is possible in the iPhone but only over Wi-Fi.

Connectivity:

The Intuition is GSM and HSDPA enabled. The iPhone 4S however has a dual antenna design by means of which you can not only switch between antennas for sending and receiving data but can also operate on both GSM and CDMA networks. This means that your Verizon iPhone 4S can work overseas provided you get it unlocked first. However, Verizon has not provided 4G LTE to the iPhone unlike the Intuition. Also, GPRS and EDGE features are present in the phones. Wireless network is enabled via Wi-Fi 802.11, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc. Bluetooth and micro USB v2.0 are present in both phones. Additionally, the Intuition possesses a NFC chip.

Battery Life:

There is no word about the power rating of the Intuition’s Li-Ion battery. The iPhone 4S is fuelled by a Li-Po battery rated at 1432 mAh.

Price:

The iPhone 4S 16 GB model costs $199, 32 GB model costs $299 and the LG intuition 4G is priced at $199.99 with two year contract on Verizon.

Wrap Up:

Apple iPhone 4S is the near-perfect combination of hardware and software. Apple’s unrivaled collection of apps, features of the iOS as Siri, etc. only add to the already long list of reasons why the iPhone 4S wins. However, one wouldn’t call the Intuition all that bad. Some might prefer the Intuition thanks to its larger screen and 4G connection. Nevertheless, the iPhone 4S is the winner.
