A new budget friendly phone has come to market recently. LG has released the Optimus L5. The phone has some great features and is expected to provide some stiff competition to all other budget friendly phones for instance the Motorola Defy+. Here is a comparison between the two phones.
The L5 measures 118.3 mm in length, 66.5 mm in breadth and 9.5 mm in thickness. It weighs around 125 g. The Defy+ measures 107 mm lengthwise, 59 mm breadthwise and 13.4 mm in thickness. It weighs 118 g. The phones feature TFT displays. The 4 inch L5 screen has a resolution of 320 * 480 pixels. The 3.7 inch of the Defy+ has a higher resolution of 480 * 854 pixels. The Defy+ screen is of Corning Gorilla Glass.
The phones run on Android operating system. The version in the L5 is that of Ice Cream Sandwich, v4.0. The Defy+ however has the older Gingerbread version. The L5 runs on an 800 MHz processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The Defy+ however has a processor clocked at 1 GHz and a Texas Instruments processor.
The L5 has 4 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM. The Defy+ includes 2 GB of internal memory with 512 MB RAM and 1 GB ROM. The phones have micro SD slots that can house up to 32 GB of extra memory. The Defy+ includes a micro SD of 2 GB memory.
The phones have 5 MP primary cameras with autofocus, LED flash, geo tagging, etc. They can shoot videos with a VGA at a frame rate of 30 fps. The phones do not have a secondary camera.
These phones support 2G and 3G networks via GSM and HSDPA. The phones have GPRS and EDGE features. The HSDPA speed is 7.2 Mbps. Wireless network is enabled via Wi-Fi 802.11, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc. Bluetooth, NFC (in case of the LG L5) and micro USB v2.0 are parts of local area connectivity.
The L5 has a Li-Ion battery rated at 1500 mAh. The Defy+ is fuelled by a Li-Po battery with a power rating of 1700 mAh.
The LG L5 is available around $240. The Motorola Defy+ is priced around $260.
It can be said there is a tie between the phones. Both have average resolution screens, same camera specs, same connectivity options, etc. However, the Defy+ has a superior processor, sharper screen and larger battery capacity. The L5 has more memory, larger screen and NFC support. Both the phones are good in their own aspects and buying either of them would be a good choice.
